Guiding Organisations Australia National Conference 24 - 27 August
Guiding Organisations Australia (GOA), the national peak body for tour guides, will be holding their Inaugural Conference from 24 to 27 August 2008 on the Gold Coast. The theme is What a Great Experience and the program is aimed at raising the industry standards of tour guide practices through professional development activities and familiarisation visits. Australian Regional Tourism Convention 9 - 12 September
This year's ARTC will be held in the Barossa region in South Australia. It is expected that more than 150 regional tourism professionals from industry, state and local government from across Australia will attend the convention themed Taking Tourism into the Future. The second 2008 DesArt showing 3 October
The second showing of DesArt for 2008 will be at 6:00pm to 9:00pm Friday 3-October-2008 at Alice Springs Desert Park, Larapinta Drive, Alice Springs, Northern Territory. Visitors can enjoy a unique experience in the form of an Indigenous art market at the Alice Springs Desert Park. The night will include entertainment for the whole family comprising of live and a variety of Central Australian films. Sumptuous food will be available during the evening.
The 2008 Desert Knowledge Symposium and Business Showcase 3 - 6 November
This year's Desert Knowledge Symposium, Developing desert directions: Rethinking the future, will be held at the Alice Springs Convention Centre from Monday 3rd - Thursday 6th November 2008. The themes for the Symposium are:
  • Making remote governance work
  • Networking business and knowledge
  • Learning for desert futures
  • Capturing industry opportunities for desert people
  • Seizing the desert environment opportunity
  • Exporting desert knowledge.

Australian Indigenous Tourism Conference 24 - 27 March 2009
The Australian Indigenous Tourism Conference 2009 will be held in Townsville Queensland. It will build upon the foundations set at the past four conferences. These conferences have been overwhelming successes, with over three to four hundred delegates attending. The conference has achieved recognition as an excellent forum for those with a common interest in Indigenous Tourism to meet and form new partnerships.
